Dunne Cleaning Specialists started out like most small businesses, first as a dream and through long hours, and hard work by Thomas Dunne Sr. and Jeanne Dunne became a reality.
Tom Sr. started out in 1967 by purchasing a wall washing machine with his childhood friend Bill Graf to supplement their income and see if he could run his own business. 2 years later he decided he could indeed run his own business.
In 1969 Dunne Cleaning opened its doors so to speak, out of the basement of the family home and in the back of the family car - a green Volkswagon station wagon
with some signs taped to the sides of the Volkswagen. Back then our name was Dunne Carpet Steam. Dunne Carpet Steam used one of the first steam cleaning machines invented for carpeting. A van was purchased 1970.
In 1971 Dunne Carpet Steam expanded by purchasing another company called Deep Steam Extraction and merged this company with Dunne Carpet Steam. Deep Steam Extraction was the oldest Steam Cleaning company in the area.
In 1972 Dunne Carpet Steam became one of the first companies in the area to use truckmounted carpet cleaning machines. In 1974 we opened a 2nd location in Western Springs. Dunne Carpet Steam moved from the family home to our first on location rug cleaning plant in Brookfield in 1976.
In 1978 Dunne Carpet Steam was renamed Dunne Cleaning Specialists Inc. to represent that we were more than carpet cleaners, we offered a number of cleaning services.
Dunne Cleaning moved our cleaning plant to our present location in Broadview in 1992.
We have added a number of services since our doors first opened, Tile & Grout Cleaning in 2015 and upgrading our rug cleaning facility in 2021, with all of the newest and most modern equipment available and we continue to pursue new opportunities and improve our education in the cleaning industry.
Thomas Dunne Sr. is the Founder, Jeanne Dunne is the book keeper, and their 2 sons Thomas and John are full time employees, even Kevin Dunne manages to come in and help out. The third generation is also involved. Sebastian Dunne has been working in the company in many capacities since grammar school, and now works in the Dunne Area Rug Cleaning division of Dunne Cleaning Specialists. Doing repairs and cleaning of multiple types of rugs. Hand cleaning as well as machine cleaning. All 3 of their sons have over 35 years experience in the cleaning industry and now his grandsons which have almost 10 years in the cleaning industry.
We are truly a family operation and intend to keep it that way for many years to come.
