Air is sucked into your air ducts through your return vents into your return ductwork ducts. The air the travels through the ductwork to the bottom of your air handler. The air handler passes through your filter up through the air handler up top where the air is heated or cooled. Then the air passes into the supply ductwork and is pushed out the supply vents. The air passes throughout your ductwork. If your ductwork is dirty then the air is passing through a dirty duct system. That's not healthy.
